I had the pleasure of judging the Huntley Meadows Photo Contest for the second time. The images are on display at Huntley Meadow until the end of February 2012.
Scott Musson will share his extensive experience with digital photography software demonstrating the preparation of your images for competition using Photoshop CS 5, Photoshop Elements 10 and Lightroom 3.5. This will be combination lecture and interactive session so feel free to bring your laptop if you care to go through the steps along with Scott. Don’t worry if you don’t have a laptop, there will still be plenty to learn from the discussion and demonstration. Also don’t worry if you are using another version of digital photography software, much of the instruction will work with other versions.
I’ll be judging a still life competition at Gaithersburg Camera Club. This will be my 3rd time judging at Gaithersburg and I’m glad to return. This is fine club if you are looking for a camera club in the Washington DC area and you live up in Maryland.

Judging the end of year photographs for NBCC. This is the best of the best and it’s sure to be a great presentation of images.
I’ll be at the Loudoun Photography Club on March 10th at 7:30 PM presenting a lecture on digital workflow. I’ll be discussing preparing your images for websites, digital photo competitions and other digital applications. Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Lightroom will be the tools discussed as well as general concepts.
In preparation for the NVPS January Themed Competition “Through Doors, Out Windows,” they will be having an image critique on January 11th. I’ll be one of 3 critics along with Andy Kline and Bill Prosser, both excellent critics who will provide useful comments on members images. Critiques are an ideal opportunity for club members to gain more detailed explanations of what is most effective about their work, where it could stand to be improved in the eyes of the judges.
